Saylor's Birth Story...

It began at midnight on September 6th, I started having contractions by 4 am they were 3 minutes apart and lasting 1 minute in length. Andrew started to call family and was packing the car in a jiffy. We arrived at the birthing center by 5 am. I started in the bath tub trying to relax, then moved to the shower and stayed there for about 4 hours. It was a small bathroom with a shower stall and my sweet husband stayed in there with me forever spraying hot and cold water on my back, Stacie eventually traded off with him to let him rest. She said her good hair day for pictures ended in there. Ha! Mine ended a LONG time ago...I imagined that my blow out from stacie would have lasted and I would have these great pics with good hair...boy was I wrong...I was a big ball of sweat! :) I used the birthing ball alot in the shower which I liked. Then I was moved back to the bed, then the birthing stool, then squatting, then sitting on the toilet...you name it, I did it. I was in an aerobics class it felt like. The contractions were very excruciating to me. They were right on top of each other with no break, back labor and I was feeling it in the front...no way around it, it was the hardest work EVER. I could not have done it without Jesus and Andrew. I was in constant prayer without ceasing that day. Every minute I was relying on HIM to be my strong tower and a shelter over me and Saylor. She finally made her way into the world at 2:23pm after 2 LONG hours of pushing! We were so over joyed to see those ten little fingers, and ten little toes. She took a few seconds which felt like minutes to cry, and when we heard that little squeal we were beaming ear to ear. She had alot of prayers being prayed over her in those moments...what a way to enter the world! She is perfect and wonderfully made. She is our Delight. I never imagined falling in love with someone so fast.










I have NEVER in my life been so overwhelmed with complete joy yet, absolutely exhausted at the same time...



Celebrations began with take out Maggiano's! I had chicken and spinach manicotti!


She inhaled some meconium from the stress of the long labor and from being 2 weeks overdue, so they wanted to transfer us to UNC hospital to keep an eye on her breathing. So she spent 2 nights in the NICU, we say she just wanted a little extra special attention. :) And of course she was the favorite in the nursery!




Needless to say we were more than ready to get home!




All in all...Loved having her at the Chapel Hill birthing center. Loved my midwives and nurses! Natural Childbirth is NO JOKE!!!! All of my mom's friends who had done it LIED to me. :) They acted like it was no biggie...I'm actually glad they did, because they lied, I was not nervous at all. I had God confidence knowing that He would get me through it. The book Super Natural Childbirth helped me alot. We prayed the prayers in the back of the book every night for 9 months. I am so glad I did it. I was so proud of myself for staying strong and doing it. Loved knowing that all those meds didn't go into me and my babe. But for all of you Granola's that want to do Natural Birth...I'm not going to lie to you...It's Hard work and hurts...don't let anyone fool you, but if you set your mind to it YOU can TOTALLY do it! It's just a battlefield of the mind. :)
